Chicago lyrics
Songwriters: SMITH, CHE / SHEMER, MARC D.
By Graham Nash
So your brother's bound
and gagged
And they've
chained him to a chair
Won't you please come to chicago just to sing
In a
land that's known as freedom how can such a thing be fair
Won't you please come to chicago for the help that we can bring
We can change the world
rearrange the world
It's dying - to get better
Politicians sit
yourselves down, there's nothing for you here
Won't you please come to
chicago for a ride
Don't ask jack to help you `cause he'll turn the other
ear
Won't you please come to chicago or else join the other side
We
can change the world rearrange the world
It's dying - if you believe in
justice
Dying - and if you believe in freedom
Dying - let a man live his
own life
Dying - rules and regulations, who needs them open up the
door
Somehow people must be free I hope the day comes soon
Won't you
please come to chicago show your face
From the bottom of the ocean to the
mountains of the moon
Won't you please come to chicago no one else can take your place
We can change the world rearrange the world
It's dying - if
you believe in justice
Dying - and if you believe in freedom
Dying - let a
man live his own life
Dying - rules and regulations, who needs them open up
the door
This song is a plea to make the world right. For Tom Robinson the world was not right. The songs says justice is dying. Tom didn't get justice at his trial. Atticus proved his innocence. The song says that freedom is dying. Tom lost his freedom. Tom could not "live his own life." It was taken from him. "Rules and regulations" were unwritten for Tom because he was black.
Corrs All The Love In The World Lyrics
Songwriters: GIBB, ROBIN HUGH / GIBB, MAURICE ERNEST / GIBB,
BARRY ALAN
I'm not looking for someone to talk to
I've got my friend,
I'm more than O.K.
I've got more than a girl could wish for
I live my
dreams but it's not all they say
Still I believe (I'm missing) I'm missing
something real
I need someone who really sees me...
(Don't wanna
wake...) Don't wanna wake up alone anymore
Still believing you'll walk
through my door
All I need is to know it's for sure
Then I'll give...
all the love in the world
I've often wondered if love's an illusion
Just to get you through the loneliest days
I can't criticize it
I
have no hestitaion
My imagination just stole me away
(Still...) Still I
believe
(I'm missing) I'm missing something real
I need someone who
really sees me...
(Don't wanna wake...) Don't wanna wake up alone
anymore
Still believing you'll walk through my door
All I need is to
know it's for sure
Then I'll give... all the love in the world
Love's for a lifetime not for a moment
So how could I throw it away
Yeah I'm only human
And nights grow colder
With no-one to love me
that way
Yeah I need someone who really sees me...
(Don't wanna
wake...) And i won't wake up alone anymore
Still believing you'll walk
through my door
You'll reach for me and I'll know it's for sure
Then
I'll give all the love in the world
(Don't wanna wake up alone
anymore...)
Helen Robinson suffered through a trial and conviction of her husband Tom. When he died, she probably felt like the lyrics of this song. My Own Prison
A court is in session, a verdict is in
No appeal on the docket today
Just my own sin
The walls are cold and pale
The cage made of steel
Screams fill the room
Alone I drop and kneel
Silence now the sound
My breath the only motion around
Demons cluttering around
My face showing no emotion
Shackled by my sentence
Expecting no return
Here there is no penance
My skin begins to burn
And I said oh
So I held my head up high
Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
And I said oh
All held captive
Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
I hear a thunder in the distance
See a vision of a cross
I feel the pain that was given
On that sad day of loss
A lion roars in the darkness
Only He holds the key
A light to free me from my burden
And grant me life eternally
Should have been dead
On a Sunday morning
Banging my head
No time for mourning
Ain't got no time
Should have been dead
On a Sunday morning
Banging my head
No time for mourning
Ain't got no time
And I said oh
[From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
So I held my head up high
Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
And I said oh
All held captive
Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison
I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison
And I said oh
So I held my head up high
Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
And I said oh
All held captive
Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
And I said oh
So I held my head up high
Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
And I said oh
All held captive (I've created)
Out from the sun (I've created)
A sun that shines on only some (I've created)
We the meek are all in one (I've created my own prison)
Should have been dead
On a Sunday morning
Banging my head
